In making this website did not know exactly how we would proceed. The further into our studies and research we keep finding new and interesting information. We are aware that we have not touched on some immigrant nationalities, this was not intentional but due to time constraints. We are equally aware that there are many Indigenous groups within Canada that we also did not touch on. They all played an important role in our past and leaving anyone out was not intentional at all. All of the Indigenous People fought to maintain what was once their, the natural untamed land of Canada. We read again and again that without these various Native Groups many of the first immigrants and colonies would not have survived. They fought, and lost to an growing Government, laws became bigger and more complicated than the natural laws of the land. Their opinions not ask for and their basic rights, being taken from them.
We had many, many hours of discussion which can't be recorded in this website about people, survival, rights, refugees, immigrants, Government and fairness. This subject and website can continue on for months. We learned and realize that there are many opinions and differing views over who is entitled to what. We see patterns of repetition such as the current refugees coming into Canada through the USA. Yet the concerns surrounding this group of refugees is a subject not heard of when the Underground railway for example was active... terrorism. Our eyes are open to the differences 150 years makes, and many of our opinions are not written as we tried to be neutral yet capture what we were reading and with what we put in writing.
In the it is clear that it took the hands of many hard working men and women to build our country. Many came to this new land ill but with hope for a better future. They had to fight hard and work hard. They had to be inventive and creative. They had to learn to survival against our climates harsh conditions both weather and geography. The hands of these original immigrants carved out our communities, built our infrastructure, and developing each province and territory into thriving economies. As this country evolved it helped our Government prove itself as responsible. It took so many people and for this every one of them needs to be thanked.
We apologize to anyone reading this who feels they were left out or misrepresented.
